Internet restrictions in the EU..?

I just stumbled on some disturbing news regarding internet in all EU-countries.

Apparently there's going to be a voting in the EU Parliament, it will take place on May 5th to restrict the use of internet within the EU.

I've been reading a lot about it. I don't get how I haven't heard about this until now. I follow the news quite regularly and there wasn't anything about it on the news... It all seems real enough, but I can't help doubting it. It just sounds really insane. They'd be taking away a big part of our freedom or at least that's how I feel about it..

They're also planning on doing something like that in the Philippines. Well, not exactly. They just won't allow people to download stuff, mainly cuz a lot of people here make a living from selling pirated DVDs. xD;

Heh, yeah, there are a lot of pirated DVD's around here too. But it's not just downloading they want to restrict in Europe, if I read correct you'll only be able to see a limited amount of websites. Dunno, it just sounds pretty bizarre to me..
